Collection Policy
FDHS collects printed, written, multi-media digital material, photographs, maps and artworks relating to the social history of Foster and the surrounding district. The collection focuses on three general historical themes which recount the evolution of the district:
Population – including education, domestic life, clubs, settlement patterns, local people past and present;
- Industries – including mining, timber, fishing, agriculture and new industries;
- Landscape and built structure – the changes in Foster & district.
The collection is accessible to the public including community, educational and other researchers or we can undertake research for you.

Gifts to the FDHS Collection
FDHS welcomes and accepts materials that relate directly to its mission of collecting, preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the history of Foster and surrounding districts.
The materials need to have a story/history and be in reasonable condition so they are preserved with minimal interference.
Not all materials can be accepted due to relevance, duplication, space, provenance or condition. For accepted materials two copies of 'Deed of Gift' form will be sent to the donor for review and signature.
